I guess sci-fi technology is already here. The pneumatic vacuum residential elevator moves passengers by means of pressurization up to four floors. The benefits of a pneumatic vacuum elevator over a traditional elevator include fast installation, no lubrication, and no need for an engine room in some subterranean level in your house. The main concern we have is the lack of space. From the videos we saw on the company's web site, a typical male will fit in pretty tight.

We hope the technology advances quickly with this one. With homes getting smaller and smaller and multi-level homes being the solution residential elevators will become more of the norm. That or humanoids.

I used to own a cellphone foam love seat/sofa for a long time. I got it from one of those promotional companies that send you all kinds of samples when you are at a design agency. It sat at my desk for a few years holding up my terrible Motorola Razr. My wife fell in love with it when she saw it, so I kindly gave it to her. I've been looking for a replacement ever since, but only found them at promotional companies web sites, most which required a large minimum order before they even considered sending me one.

And the overall craziest alarm clock is the flying digital alarm clock. Though not the prettiest of the bunch, it certainly presents the biggest challenge. Be ready in the morning because as soon as the alarm goes off, the propeller is launched up into the air and it flies around the room. Your only recourse is to put the propeller powered device back into the base. Good luck staying awake after that.

The Res-Q-Me is probably the most important tool you can carry in your car. It is a seat belt cutter and glass breaker that can fit in the palm of your hand.

Just recently I was involved in a defensive driving course taught by a member of the Florida Highway patrol. The course was eye opening. Looking for an inexpensive car to get you from point A to B? Tata Motors an Indian company has developed the NANO just for you. The car is 10ft long, seats four and will sell for roughly $2,500, so pretty much anyone on an allowance can get one. Why is this car so cheap? Well in order to offer the car this cheap they had to make some cut backs on what regular people want on their cars. Don't expect to have Bluetooth on this little guy, in fact lots of the features you have on a regular car are extras on this guy. For instance air conditioning, power brakes, radios, etc. are all missing from the entry-level model.

What did you expect for a car that costs about as much as a high end refrigerator? The engine in the car is made from an aluminum block just like the old generation Volkswagen beetle was. Actually the Indian company dubbed the car "The people's car" just like Volkswagen had done with the beetle. Instead of welding you will find adhesive which is not so great but that's how they keep the cost down. Don?t expect to find any air bags on this guy either.

The vehicle can climb up until about 65 MPH where it will top off, It does however get about 50 miles to the gallon though with its 2 cylinder 623cc engine. Can you say lawn mower? Actually its about twice as powerfull as a conventional lawnmower you would have at home.

The Nano has a modular design. Tata Motors takes advantage of this and sells these as kits, this way regular people can purchase one of these and build it in their own garage if they enjoy that sort of stuff. Kind of crazy but cool at the same time.

The car is available in India currently but is destined to hit the US within the next three years. Because the US has stringent safety standards, it will have to go through a few redesigns before it starts being sold here.

With hurricane season quickly approaching we thought we would look into some safety items for preparedness. With Urban Lime being home grown in Florida, we have lots of encounters with hurricanes and always find ourselves hurrying to get those last minute items to be ready for a storm.

I thought the SmartPad was a bunch of bologna when I saw it advertised - until I saw it in action in a friend's car. The silicone base pad (looking a lot like a mouse pad) attaches to the surface of your car's dashboard, refrigerators, computer desks, etc... and leaves no residue, which is honestly the best thing about this device. Throw mobile phones (how British of me), MP3 players, sunglasses, GPS, on top of it grips on to it. One small caveat is that it also tends to collect dust, so you'll have to wash it with water every once in a while so it regains its strong-man like grip.
